BSkyB to test Qualcomm mobile technology (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Reuters) - News Corp.'s pay-television networkBritish Sky Broadcasting Ltd. on Tuesday said it will testtechnology made by Qualcomm Inc. that delivers programming tomobile phones.

BSkyB plans to conduct technical trials of Qualcomm'sMediaFlo technology during the summer as part of itsexploration of opportunities to run video services on mobiledevices, the companies said in a statement.

Qualcomm also has started a joint venture with Japan'ssecond-largest mobile operator KDDI to look at using MediaFLOin that country, the company said.

Qualcomm is spending about $800 million in the UnitedStates on a network based on MediaFlo technology.
