Boris Becker made liable for business losses (AFP)
KARLSRUHE, Germany (AFP) - Three-time champion Boris Becker faces a new trial after a German court ruled that he was liable for the debts of his failed Internet sports portal.

The German federal court of justice lifted a ruling from a lower court that Becker, 38, was exempt from claims for the sum of 1.5 million euros (1.9 million dollars) following the collapse of the Sportgate venture.
The earlier judgement was based on the fact that the contract which made Becker liable for the losses was written in English and had been signed by the former tennis star in Washington and was therefore inadmissible in a German court.
But the Karlsruhe-based federal court said Becker was now liable for the losses.
Becker now makes a living mainly from working as a TV presenter and tennis commentator.
