AIM to add free local phone numbers

According to a cheeky post over at TechDirt, AOL is going to offer something unique in a coming revision of AIM: Notonly is AIM going to be enabled for PC-to-phone calling like Skype and Yahoo Messenger (and Gizmo, and Wengo,and......) but the new AIM will also sport a free local phone number for incoming calls. The catch? Well, if you wantto place outbound calls, that'll be fifteen bucks a month. Check it out.
